Odd Goal in Seven

Playing Expected Tolouse this week. We know them from the past - they know us - they're usually a firm but fair side who take no nonsense from anyone, including the referee, more on that later. Could we keep our good start to the season going?

We had Goose, Phil, Mark, Crofty, Martin, Matt and Andy playing this week so on paper we should be capable of giving a god account of ourselves. The game started brightly, both sides creating chances, keepers making a series of fairly standard saves. Then we had a breakaway, the ball fell to Andy just left of centre and 10 yards out, a touch to control and a firm shot into the net - but it took a touch off the defender, so, sorry Andy, we'll have ti class that as an own goal (not convinced it was originally on target)!

Matt then got our second following some good teamwork and we were looking comfortable. Then an Expected Tolouse midfielder knocks a high bouncing ball back to their goalkeeper, he palms it down to kick away to safety and the refs blows up for handling a back pass. High excitement - lot of protests - "What else could I do?" (Head it!) - not fair - ridiculous - you don't know the rules etc. Anyway, we fail to score from the resulting indirect free kick. Expected Tolouse are angry / frustrated. A late tackle on Mark is penalised with the miscreant sent off for 5 minutes in the 'sin bin'. When they're back to 7 they go on to score 2 goals, the first taking a touch off Phil and the second going wide but impacting on Phil and ending in the back of the net.

Matt scored another neat goal, throw in from near the corner flag goes over the defence and finds him all alone, 5 yards out and it was dispatched into the back of the net. 3 - 2 up.

Couldn't hang on, ET score an equaliser and then a winner about 60 seconds from the end of the hame. Frustrating.

Lost 3 - 4
