Andy Sees Red

Start of the new season and up against the dynamic youngsters of COFG FC. We had a draw and a narrow loss to them last season, but how would we get on this time. The weather was pretty miserable, rain and strong wind, so not much fun for players or spectators.

Line up. Goose - Joe and Jake - Sean, Phil and George - Andy - and waiting in the wings was Mark (Weak Ankles) Heaney.

We had a good first half, played reasonably despite the poor weather conditions, though both sides were struggling a little to keep the ball under control. Goose was never too heavily involved, the COFG FC keeper was having to work a lot harder, we had a series of corners and balls flashing just wide of the post. After 15 minutes, Andy got a shot in that their keeper could do nothing about, 1 -0. As half time approached, Phil was hobbling, sore foot, might need to come of at half time.

Phil thought he could press on at the start of the second half, Mark was activated into warm up duties just in case. Less than a minute in, Andy committed a foul on the left wing, COFG FC player sent flying (in quite 'spectacular' fashion). Andy was shown a red card! Down to 6! Yes it was a foul, but was it that serious?

A different game now, COFG FC on the attack pretty much non stop with their extra man. We struggle to keep hold of the ball. It's wave after wave of COFG FC attack. But defence and Goose all pay well to deny our opponents. Two minutes to go, swift interchange down the left hand side by COFG FC, a one two and the ball is dinked into the net. All square. Not much time for anything more to happen.

By the way, Phil managed to play for the whole of the second half, Mark's warm up was in vain. Andy banned for 1 week.
