In The End It Came Down To Goal Difference

Not sure why I chose to go on holiday at a time that covered the last 2 games of the season, especially when there was everything to play for.
On the 12th of September we were 1 point behind PPK and 4 behind the leaders, IKFC, with 2 games to go. We were due to face Man Dem and Meet The Dockers FC in our final 2 matches, with the Dockers being notorious for cancelling games and giving their opponents a 2-0 win by default. PPK had to face Unathletic Madrid while IKFC took on Redstar Fulwood in their penultimate games and then in the final week IKFC played PPK in a table topping clash. We wanted IKFC to win that last game, meaning we would be unable to catch them, but it would make it easier for us to catch PPK in second place. There wasn't too much in goal difference between us, and a good week for one team combined with a bad week for another could make all the difference.
So how did it all end? Well, we didn't manage to win our match against Man Dem (0 - 3 loss and, more importantly, the loss of Gary for the rest of year with a dislocated shoulder). PPK beat Unathletic Madrid 2 - 0, while IKFC took 3 points from their match with Redstar Fulwood and recorded a 3 - 0 win, these results were obviously good for both their points total and goal difference.
Final game of the season on 20th September, as anticipated Meet The Dockers FC pull out of their game with us and IKFC beat PPK 2 - 0, which means we end the season as shown below.

So it was all very close in the end.
We missed out on the runners up spot on goal difference alone.
Well done the Meen as Kustard boys for another competitive season, bit of a shame that we didn't quite manage to nick that second spot, but another strong, competitive season.
Better luck next time out.

Shout Out for Top Talent

We're often looking for top talent that fancy 40 minutes of football on a Thursday evening.
If you're interested have a look at the page that shows where the games are played and contact me by email if you want more information.
It's a 3G surface; we play outdoors; 40 minutes (2 x 20 minute halfs); shin guards are compulsory; you must be a minimum of 16 years old; and the Leisure Centre dictate that it's guys only (sorry ladies). Kick offs are between 7pm and 9.15pm. Send me an email, now.
If you're an individual looking for a regular game on a Thursday evening and fall (roughly) into any one of these categories,
    keen and committed goalkeeper,
    no nonsense defender,
    inspirational midfielder,
    phenomenal forward.
Well, you're just the sort of fellow we'd like to meet. Even if you only partly fulfil one of the above descriptions, get in touch. Use the Contact page to send me an email.
Thanks, I hope to hear from you soon.
